The Central Illinois Sport Fencing club (CISF) is dedicated to the promotion, teaching and enjoyment of Olympic Style Sport Fencing in the Bloomington/Normal area. All three weapons (foil, sabre and epee) are encouraged, with foil being the basis for all three forms. Fencing promotes quick thinking, problem solving, physical health, and confidence. It is frequently referred to as "Physical Chess" or even "Chess at 80 miles an hour."

We spend half of our meetings on informal instruction, both individually and in groups. This is followed by a period of free-fence, when all levels of students are encouraged to fence against each other. Good conduct and sportsmanship are expected, as well as safety!

Beginners or experienced fencers (no matter how long ago!) are welcome to come try us out. More details on meeting times, fees and so on can be found in our Club Info. For information on more structured fencing classes, see News and Events. We look forward to crossing swords with you soon!
